Hi KOSIS officer,

It seems that regulated prices change sometimes will dominate inflation dynamics in short-term (<1y), for example the 2015 cigarette tax and 2015/2016 summer electricity price cut.

So I was wondering if KOSIS has a core inflation breakdown into "regualted" and "non-regulated" categories? If yes may I know the components and subcomponent weights of each please?

Thank you and best regards,
Xiangpeng

Dear Xiangpeng,
Thank for using the KOSIS website.

Statistics Korea doesn't break down the consumer price index (excluding agricultural products and oils) into "regulated" and "non-regulated" categories.

In the meantime, according to related legislations, central and local governments are involved in the decision of prices of public service charges. And KOSTAT provides the CPI of those public services and weights through the classification of the CPI by item on the following webpage.
