Dear SWR,
Thank you for using the KOSIS website.

1.What is the difference between the above two surveys?

Two surveys have differences in terms of sample size, survey frequency, data collection method and so on. The main differences are as follows;

                                       SFLC                           HIES
Survey frequency                    annually                           monthly
survey unit                         household                        household
sample size about 20,000 households about 8,700 households

data collection method - face-to-face, questionaire - diary survey
                           - rotational panel survey*
                           - One-fifth of the sample are changed
                             as new household

Basically SFLC collects data in the unit of economic family which includes family members having blood relation. A family also includes persons working elsewhere during the week and students who are away from home during the school term, but excludes lodgers, boarders and household servants.

2.Are there any differences abuout "Household income" between the above two surveys?

Overall both surveys use the same concept of household income recommended by canberra group and so on. One main difference between both surveys is in the use of income from self-employment. The basis for the measurement of self-employment income in SFLC is the concept of 'net' income, that is, the value of gross output less operating costs and after adjustment for depreciation of assets used in production and so on. On the other hands, HIES uses the concept of 'drawings' for self-employment income.

3.Are there differences in the above two surveys of disposable income?

I think there is no any difference in two surveys of disposable income. Two surveys follow international recommendations such as OECD, Canberra.
