Greetings,

Ive noticed that in the IMF DSBB NSDP page, International Reserves and Foreign Currency liquidity, the subcomponents under "(5) other reserve assets(specify)" have constantly been empty for the past few months. These subcomponents are:

- financial derivatives
- loans to nonbank nonresidents
- other

Both KOSTAT and the IMF show empty values for the subcomponents. Is there any reason that only the total value is shown?

Regards,
Deon
Answer Statistics Korea/2019-02-25
Dear Deon,

Hello, We are the statistical planning team of the Bank of Korea's Economic Statistics Bureau.

First, thank you for your interest in our statistics.

We would like to respond regarding the IMF DSBB NSDP page request.

Your question was why only the total value is shown. There is no special reason to do so. This is just coming from the difference in statistics classification system of IMF and Bank of Korea. In other words, There is “net other current assets” in BOK statistics but is not in IMF statistics. So, it is classified as only (5) other reserve assets(specify) not its subcomponents.

We hope this answers your question.

Please contact the International Department of the Bank of Korea for further details.(ifpteam@bok.or.kr)

Thank you.
