Dear Sir or Madam,

I would be grateful if you could provide me with panel data on firm-level data from the Survey of Business Activities as mentioned in the IMF paper "From Firm-Level Imports to Aggregate Productivity: Evidence from Korean Manufacturing Firms Data". In particular, I would be extremely grateful if you could provide data on:

Import and export data, disaggregated into product categories
The type of firm they are, e.g. the kind of industry they are in
A breakdown of their costs
Firms labor force details, including wages, types of employees, training details, etc.

Many thanks for your help in advance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Amanda

Dear Amanda,

Thank you for visiting the KOSIS website.

I'm Sook-hui, Noh. I'm responsible for the Survey of Business Activities in Statistics Korea.

You asked Statistics Korea to provide detailed data of the Survey of Business Activities, which were found in the IMF paper titled "From Firm-Level Imports to Aggregate Productivity: Evidence from Korean Manufacturing Firms Data".

The IMF paper analyzes how imports affect the productivity of manufacturing firms. From the results of the Survey of Business Activities between 2006 and 2012, data of imports, annual sales, operating profits and net profits may be used in the paper. I advise you to contact JaeBin Ahn of the IMF and Moon Jung Choi of the Bank of Korea, who are co-authors of the paper.

On the other hand, Statistics Korea provides microdata to foreigners only when they reside in Korea and at the same time they work for public research institutes or they are students.

Sorry for inconvenience. Thanks for your interest in data of Statistics Korea.
