Dear KOSIS Officials, I am writing this to respectfully request for your attention to the reporting and availability of data concerning accessibility-related complaints from passengers with reduced mobility in Korean airlines. My name is Junmyeong Park, and I am a student at Cheongna Dalton School. I am currently working on a project where I investigate real-world social issues and explore how they are being addressed in our community. As a student researching accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) , I have noticed a lack of detailed public data regarding complaints related to disability discrimination or accessibility challenges in the aviation sector. In fact, media coverage and stakeholder interviews suggest ongoing issues faced by passengers with disabilities. For example, an article from 'The Korea Times' reports that the majority of airlines were fined due to their failure to provide accessible services to passengers with disabilities. However, attempting to find any data concerning this issue was exceptionally difficult. In light of this, I would like to advocate for the officials of KOSIS to review existing data collection and categorization systems for aviation-related complaints by passengers with mobility impairment. After all, equality forms the foundation of human rights, and including multifaceted data helps ensure that the experiences and challenges of all individuals—especially those with disabilities—are recognized, addressed, and reflected. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Junmyeong Park Cheongna Dalton School

Statistics Korea/2025-06-12
Dear Junmyeong Park, Thank you for visiting the KOSIS website. Statistics Korea provides statistical data approved as official statistics and released by central government agencies, local governments and other designated organizations through the KOSIS website, a one-stop statistical portal. I’m sorry, but datasets on disability-related complaints in the aviation sector are not provided by Statistics Korea. In the meantime, on the Korean-version KOSIS webpage, users can find a statistical table titled ‘Satisfaction with Facilities for Persons with Disabilities’, which is based on the Panel Survey on the Life of Persons with Disabilities. - Data location: Korean-version KOSIS website > Domestic statistics > Statistics by topic > Welfare > Panel Survey on the Life of Persons with Disabilities. > Panel > Self-reliance > Satisfaction with Facilities for Persons with Disabilities Best wishes, Statistics Korea.
