Dear Sir/Madam, Id like to ask about statistical table DT_1J17001 CPI by Item(Expenditure Category:2015=100). Upon ing weight, we see that weights did not change at all since the data became available. This sounds slightly odd, as CPI weights normally change for many other countries. Dear John, Thank you for visiting the KOSIS website. Statistics Korea revises the base year on a 5-year basis including the revision of survey items and weights. Between the two 5-year revisions, weights are revised one more time. The revision of the base year (including survey items and weights) is carried out in years ending 0 and 5. Revising only weights is carried out in years ending 2 and 7. As for the recent revision of weights, on December 18th, 2018, Statistics Korea changed the base year of CPI weights into 2017. And the CPI was revised back to January 2017. In principle, historical weights are not provided to the general public on the KOSIS website. ※ After your inquiry, Statistics Korea changed the table not to display weights for data prior to December 2016. Thank you. 통계청은 소비자물가지수의 품목 및 가중치 개편을 포함하는 기준년도 개편을 5년 주기로 실시하고 있으며, 기준년도 개편 사이에 1회 가중치만을 개편하고 있습니다. 기준년도 개편은 연도 끝자리가 0 또는 5자, 가중치만의 개편은 2 또는 7자인 연도를 기준으로 실시합니다. 현재, 소비자물가지수는 2017년 기준으로 개편된 가중치를 사용하고 있으며 ‘16년 12월 이전 지수에 적용된 가중치는 공표되지 않습니다. ※ ‘16년 12월 이전 자료에 2017년 기준 가중치가 표출되었으나 현재 수정작업이 완료되어 가장 최근의 가중치만 제공함을 알려드립니다.
